Jewelry should feel like yours the moment you put it on. Not tight. Not awkward. Not something you take off by noon because it never quite worked. One of the first things I learned making jewelry for real people was that length matters, and that the standard options don't work for everyone. So I don't offer just one. Every Auréad necklace is available in multiple lengths, and if none of them are quite right, I'll make yours from scratch.

How to find your length

The most reliable method is to measure a necklace you already own and love wearing. Lay it flat, measure from end to end including the clasp, and use that as your starting point.

If you don't have a reference piece, a soft measuring tape works well. Wrap it around your neck at the point where you'd like the necklace to rest, then add an inch or two depending on how close or relaxed you want the fit to feel. That number is your length.

Keep in mind that where a necklace falls depends on more than just the measurement. Neck circumference, torso length, and posture all affect the result, so the chart below is a general reference rather than a guarantee. If you're ever between lengths or unsure, custom sizing is available and always welcome.

The resting points shown are estimates based on an average torso. Your necklace may sit slightly higher or lower depending on your proportions, which is completely normal and exactly why multiple lengths are available.

Tips for Layering

 

Layering works best when there is enough distance between pieces so each one reads on its own. A gap of at least two inches between lengths keeps things from tangling and gives each necklace room to shine. A collar or a 17-inch piece, paired with something at 19 or 20 inches, is a clean, easy starting point. If you want to go three layers, add a longer piece, 22 inches or longer, to anchor the stack. Mixing bead styles, chain weights, or stone types adds visual interest without requiring more lengths.
