The Story Behind Auréad Designs: Jewelry Made for Real Life

Some things start with a grand plan. Auréad Designs was not one of them.

It started at a gem show.

In September 2025, I walked past a table of bead strands and felt that pull that anyone who has ever collected crystals will recognize immediately. The kind where your hand reaches out before your brain has caught up. I bought a few favorite strands, brought them home, and started making pieces for myself because I had spent years looking for gemstone jewelry that felt right and kept coming up empty.

I have always been a maker. A DIY-er in the truest sense, someone who would rather figure out how to create something than settle for whatever is available. And what was available in gemstone jewelry often felt like a compromise: either too precious to actually wear, or too generic to feel meaningful. I wanted something in between. Something that lived, as I like to say, between heirloom and everyday.

So I made it myself.

When People Started Asking

The pieces were just for me at first. I wore them the way I wanted to wear jewelry: layered, casual, present. And then people started asking. Where did you get that? Can you make one for me? That shift, from making for myself to making for others, is when Auréad Designs began to take shape as something more than a personal project.

It officially launched in November 2025, just a few months after that first gem show visit. The whole thing moved quickly because when something feels right, it tends to.

The Name

Auréad (pronounced o-ray-AD) is a blend of two things that matter to me: aurum, the Latin word for gold, and my own name, Adiel.

It felt like the right name because it holds both things the brand is built on: the warmth and luminosity of gold, and the personal, handmade nature of every piece. This is not a faceless collection. Every design begins with me, sitting with strands of stones until something clicks.

What Everyday Luxury Actually Means

Luxury in jewelry can mean many things. For Auréad, it means something specific.

It means a piece that will not tarnish after a few wears. One that feels elevated the moment you put it on, without requiring a special occasion to justify it. It means using materials chosen for durability and beauty in equal measure, so that the necklace you reach for on an ordinary Tuesday still feels like a small, considered pleasure.

It also means the stones themselves. Natural gemstones carry a quality that is difficult to manufacture: subtle variation in color, texture, and energy that makes each piece feel a little alive. Sometimes a piece calls to you because of the stone it's made from. That is not an accident. It is the point.

Every Auréad piece is designed to fit into your existing jewelry collection and be worn your way. Layered or alone. Clasp forward or back. Dressed up or down. The piece should work for your life, not the other way around.

What This Brand Means to Me

I started Auréad because I wanted jewelry that felt personal rather than generic, elevated rather than precious, and real rather than reserved. I make every piece by hand in the United States, using materials chosen for their durability.

But more than the craft, what I hope comes through in every design is intention. The belief that the things we wear closest to us should mean something. That a necklace can be both beautiful and grounding. That jewelry does not have to be saved for someday.

Whether you found Auréad because of a specific stone, a specific piece, or simply because something caught your eye, I am glad you are here. I hope you find something that feels like it belongs with you.
